The Veneto region is famous worldwide for its wine, in particular the Prosecco, the sparkling white wine from Valdobbiadene, a small town near Asolo. In the area they also produce red wines, such as merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon.
The local wineries are open to the public for tastings, tours and sale of wines produced. Many of these wineries are close to each other and a tour is easily organized along the "Strada del Prosecco", where you can spend a day immersed in the local tradition and visiting beautiful places.
Tourists have the opportunity to enjoy some of the most popular dishes of Italian cuisine with products that just the Treviso area offers. Each season has something special: the asparagus in spring followed by cherries and strawberries - mushrooms in autumn - red radicchio of Treviso in winter. There are a variety of local cheeses: Asiago, Morlacco, Ricotta, as well as Pecorino, Parmesan or the special buffalo mozzarella.
This area is also known for its local meats: the most typical is the Sopressa Trevisana; other specialties include the classic salami with garlic, or the famous "porchetta" pork meat cooked in the oven for a long tim eat low temperature.
